Neal Brantner

Neal Brantner is a 20 year old vocal performance major at East Tennessee State University. Neal began kayak fishing in 2010 upon moving in with his life long friend Ben Adrien. Ben had been kayak fishing for a year and was in need of a wingman for filming purposes. Neal quickly began to appriciate the fine art of the sport. Neal has since achieved many goals fishing wise.
Neal’s favorite types of fishing are salt, and smallmouth fishing.  Living in the hills of East Tennessee one does not get ample opportunities, so Neal takes several trips to Grayton Beach Florida each year.

Neal is currently striving to become a professional musician. Whenever he’s not practicing or playing shows he can be found on the river chasing smallies.

Neal can  be found performing with the ETSU Chorale and No Beer on the Sidewalk.

    Neal,

I was wondering if you could tell me more about your trip to Florida. I would like to take a trip down there and wondering when the best time of the year was? I enjoyed the article in Kayak Angler and glad to see other young guys that like the sport. I live outside of Wilmington, NC and just now transferring to the sport from whitewater paddling in the NC mountains. So far I would have to say I am hooked! As a bow hunter I love the similarities of the close up action that kayak angling offers. If you guys ever want to do a trip down this way let me know and I’ll be happy to do what I can to help you. Don’t hold it against me, but I am an App State guy. Best wishes, and fish-on!
